Good Things We Do

Looking After Our Own
For people affected by Hurricane Katrina, the impact of this disaster will reverberate for years to come. For United Rentals employees in the region, immediately as the waters receded our nation-wide teams acted quickly to supply groups and individuals with the tools to recover and rebuild.

First we helped cover the basics. A general supply shipment, including twenty boxes of toiletries, as well as nurses to administer vaccinations, were provided free for employees and families – as well as medical care from out-of-network providers, at no cost. Fifteen families were displaced, and they were supplied with necessities, and supported through counseling.

For United Rentals' affected employees in the Gulf area, we brought an HR Manager onsite to assist. No one missed a paycheck; flexible work hours were instituted to help employees regain their balance.

As people continue to get back on their feet, interest-free loans of up to $2,500 and T. Rowe Price hardship loans were made available to help in the rebuilding of their homes and communities. United Rentals offered an employee donation matching grant that topped $75,000.
