"I drive the big trucks. Twenty-five footers. Fifty-five tons. And I insist on keeping my driving record perfect."
Of the fifty-or-so-mile radius where Marc makes deliveries, he thinks he knows all the ins and outs since he's lived in the area his whole life. He considers knowing every alternative route "just part of my job." But to his team, it looks more like conscientiousness and good sense. "The front counter is really knowledgeable about routes and permits, too, which really increases our efficiency."
Marc has zero respect for people who don't care about doing the best they can. Troubled by workplace environments where motivation is lacking, Marc feels right at home with the energy and drive of his colleagues at United Rentals, He also feels fortunate to work at a company where even senior management really know machinery, and where there is such "an unbelievable opportunity for growth".
Marc likes the idea of becoming a Service Manager in a few years, but right now he loves nothing more than driving a 55T truck. He knows that expert drivers like him, who are committed to safety, are one of the most important jobs at United Rentals.
